… and symbology in art (of all types) ends up teaching biased understandings (colorism) that light and dark are representative of things that never should have been. I’ve strived to teach my own child (and students I’ve had - I’m a teacher) that dark, darkness, shade, night, etc. is not to feared. I’ve also introduced the perspective that IF it can be believed of what is said of the “devil” is true and comprised of lies and deceit… that entity (for lack of how else to put it) will be so exquisitely and irresistibly incredible that it easily fools you into believing that it’s anything other than what it actually is.
