This happened to me so many times I lost track of how many it happened. Also? Therapists and others started saying to me that they noticed how he talked over me as much as bullied me in front of them. To this day, he will say our issue was a “marriage” issue — while he is one wife #3 and that wedding and marriage almost didn’t happen. He is still sending me ridiculous messages and trying to have conversations about how so much of how/why he is downtrodden all the time is the same stuff it always was. I simply don’t respond as I have a ton of practice from years of being pushed to be “submissive” with his physical, sexual, emotional and verbal abuse. I learned (while with him) that it was abuse and was finally able to be freed and hold him accountable for what continues to be problematic in his own life. He keeps recreating and recycling the same dysfunction and abuse whether he is married or not.
